Patrick McGunnigal's father, also called Patrick, was a quarryman. His father it was who notified the registrar, William Richard, at Holytown, on 24 June 1889, of his son's birth. He made his X mark.
Patrick was recorded by the 1891 census, the youngest child of his family living at Paddock Street, Coatbridge. He was just 2 years of age and his birthplace was in Bothwell parish.
In 1901, Patrick was the only child living with his parents at 14 Clyde Square in Old Monkland West district. He was a scholar aged 11 years, and had been born in Bothwell parish. 2 3 4
