  General Notes:

Michael's father, Henry, notified the registrar at Cleland, William Spence, on 31 March 1897, of Michael's birth.

In 1901 Michael McConnochie was recorded as 4 years old by the census of that year. He was the only son of the six children recorded by the enumerator in the family then and, like his siblings, had been born in Shotts parish.

In 1927 Michael himself notified the registrar of the birth of his son, Michael, in Carfin. His occupation was recorded as coal miner.

'M. McConnachie', who had been present where the death of his father, Henry, occurred, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, Alexander Craig, at Cleland, on 20th December 1934. Michael's address was noted as 23 Omoa Road, Cleland.

Elizabeth, Michael's daughter, was born in 1938. Michael, who had been present where she was born, was the informant of her birth. His occupation was recorded then as 'coal cutting machineman'.

In 1946, Mary Bernadette, Michael's daughter, died. Michael's occupation was recorded in the death certificate as 'electric welder'.

In his death certificate of 1965, Michael was recorded as a 'coal miner (machine man) (retired)'. He was married to Ann McGill, and his age was recorded as 68 years.

Michael's son, Henry, died in 1988. His father's occupation was that of coal miner, according to Henry's death certificate. 1 3 4 5

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was Father Thomas N. Taylor PP, St Francis Xavier's RC Church, Carfin, Motherwell. The witnesses were James Lonie, of 10 Knowenoble Street, Cleland, and Elizabeth Barron, of 99 High Street, Newarthill.

Michael McConnachie was a coal miner by occupation. He was unmarried and lived at 74 Biggar Road, Cleland. His age was noted as 30 years. His mother was already deceased.

Ann McGill was an unmarried woman of 22 years. Her address was 94 Church Street, Newarthill. She was a domestic servant. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Holytown on 6 June 1927, Gil Hamilton being the signing registrar.
