   Cause of her death was phtisis over 9 months and haemoptosis over 4 months.2

  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Old Monkland recorded Margaret Campbell, aged 28 years, as head of a household at General's Row in Coathill, Lanarkshire. two small children lived with her, her daughters Jane Campbell aged 5 years and Sarah Campbell, aged 9 months. Two others, Martin McConville and his mother Sarah, lived with her as lodgers. Like them, Margaret was Irish born.

In 1861 Margaret was living in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, with her husband, Martin, and her four children. She was 35 years old and born in Ireland.

In her death certificate Margaret McConnell [sic] was recorded as the 'widow of James Campbell coal miner and the widow of Martin McConnell coal miner'. Her recorded age at death was 52 years. Both of her parents were deceased. 2 3 5

  Medical Notes:

James Wilson MB CM certified the causes of death.

Jane Jinks, daughter of the deceased, of Dimity Street Johnstone, gave notice of her mother's death before the registrar, William Gaff Fleming, at Johnstone on 14 April 1884, and made her X mark. 2


Margaret married James CAMPBELL. (James CAMPBELL was born about 1815 and died before 30 March 1851 3.)


Margaret next married Martin McCONVILLE, son of John McCONVILLE and Sarah HAMMILL, on 28 September 1852 in St Patrick's RC Church, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Martin McCONVILLE was born about 1825 in Ireland 4 6 and died 6 May 1874 at 11.00 am in 18 McDowall Street, Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland 4.). The cause of his death was bronchitis over 4 years.2


  Marriage Notes:

The date and place given in the IGI of 25 July 1852 at Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland was likely to have been the banns of marriage.

Martin McConvill and Margaret Boyle were married by Father Michael O'Keeffe. The witness recorded in the marriage register was Mary Campbell. 1
