VALLELY, James 1

  • Born: 1836, Scotland
  • Marriage (1): PATTERSON, Elizabeth

Another name for James was VALLELEY, James.2

  General Notes:

James Vallely was a witness at John Vallely's wedding in 1857. If not his brother he may be a cousin.

The 1880 US Census recorded a James Valleley, his wife and three children, living in Canton in Stark County in the state of Ohio, USA. James was recorded there as aged 43, putting his birth year at 1836-1837. His birthplace was Scotland, as was his father's. His mother was English born. Under occupation James was recorded as being 'Machinist and Mayor'. Circumstantially, the James of the census as mentioned fits this James Vallely, though the place of birth of his father raises a doubt. 1

  Research Notes:

POSSIBLE US CONNECTION
In the 1880 US Census for Ohio State, there was a James Valleley recorded aged 43 and born in Scotland. His father had been born in Scotland and his mother in England. He was a machinist and mayor. His wife Elizabeth, his son byron, and his daughters Mary and Sarah were all born in Ohio. Byron, the eldest was 19.

The age of this man would fit this James Vallely, but there are no other indications as yet.

James married Elizabeth PATTERSON. (Elizabeth PATTERSON was born in 1841 in Ohio, USA.)
