Catherine McNamara was recorded by the 1881 census for Galston living at 23 Ironwork Square. She was married and had five children aged aged from 4 to 19 years to care for. She was born in Ireland and recorded as 43 years of age. ²

Catherine married Patrick McNAMARA, son of Patrick McNAMARA and Catherine McNAMARA, on 16 November 1857 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Patrick McNAMARA was born in 1835 in Ireland ² and died on 26 October 1890 in Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland ³.)

  Marriage Notes:

John McLachlan, RCC, celebrated the marriage according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Thomas Walsh and Thomas Mason were witnesses.

Patrick McNamara, who made his X mark, resided at Titchfield Street, Galston. He was an unmarried man aged 21 years and worked as a coal miner. His parents were both living.

Catherine McLuskey also made her X mark. She was a seamstress, aged 20 years and unmarried. She lived at Dale Street, Galston. Her father was deceased and her mother alive.

The marriage was registered on 19 November 1857 at Kilmarnock, James Gregory being the signing registrar.
