"Moir, James, 2nd of Stoneywood
Brother of Alexander Moir, Regent. Eldest son of John Moir, 1st of Stoneywood and his wife, Jean, eldest daughter of James Sandilands 1st of Cotton. Baptized in Aberdeen 1 Sept 1659. MP for Aberdeenshire from 1689 -1707. He married twice, on 10 July 1683, Mary, eldest daughter of the Rev William Scroggie, Bishop of Argyll, issue four sons, the eldest being James, and three daughters. Secondly, Jean, daughter of Alexander Abernethy, 1st of Mayen and widow of William Moir of Scotstown. By her he had three sons, one of whom was William Moir of Lonmay, and two daughters. Jean Abernethy died in Nov 1749, aged 85. He died on 22 Nov 1739 aged 80."

James married Marie SCROGIE, daughter of Right Reverend Mr William SCROGIE Bishop of Argyll and Katherine SCOUGAL, on 10 July 1683.1 (Marie SCROGIE was baptised on 28 October 1667 in Dumbarton parish, Dunbartonshire, Scotland 3.)
