  General Notes:

Helen was the youngest child recorded in her family entry of the 1881 census for Blantyre. She was just 3 years old, and had been born in Blantyre.

The 1891 census recorded Helen as aged 13 years and her birthplace as Blantyre.

Helen married Joseph MILLS, son of John MILLS and Elizabeth O'CONNELL, on 18 July 1897 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Joseph MILLS was born about 1875.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. James McDonnell, RC Clergyman, married the couple. The witnesses were John and Mary McGuire.

Joseph Mills was a single man, aged 22 years, of Byres Knowes Carfin. he was a coal miner. Both of his parents were deceased.

Ellen Higgins was a cotton factory weaver. She lived at 37 Bairds Rows Blantyre. She was 18 years old and single. her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Blantyre on 20 July 1897. ¹
