General Notes: James Brown was recorded by the 1881 census for Cambusnethan as the grandson of John McCrae and Mary McLean, living with them at 27 Brown Street. The only child of theirs living there was their son John McCrae aged 26 years, possibly the father of James. James Brown was recorded as being a scholar, aged 5 years, and born in Newmains, Lanarkshire. 1 |
