Eliza McGrath was baptised on 15 August 1853 at St Patrick's RC Church, Coatbridge, by Father Michael O'Keeffe. Her sponsor was Mary Cavanagh.
Eliza McGraw was recorded by the 1861 census for Old Monkland living with her widowed father and her three siblings at Baillieston. She had an older brother, Owen, and two younger brothers James and Felix. She was therefore the only female in that household. The 1861 census recorded her age as 12 years. The only child of that name we have so far listed was born in July 1853, which would make her age at the census 7 years coming on 8 years. No Elizabeth or Eliz was listed with the parents in the 1851 census, only Helen, who was then 8 months old. 1 2
