Owen, lawful son of John McGrath and Elizabeth Cavanagh was baptised in March 1843 by Father John McDermott. His sponsors were James Cavanagh and Mary Toy.

The 1851 census for New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, recorded Owen McGraw living with his parents and baby sister at 39 High Street Airdrie. Owen had been born in Bothwell parish and was recorded as 8 years of age by the census.

In 1861 Owen McGraw was recorded by the census for Baillieston, in the Old Monkland Western District area. He was recorded as 17 years of age and as being born in Bothwell parish. He worked as a coal miner. 1 2 3
