Louis Damphoffer, his wife and two sons were recorded by the 1880 census living in District 3 of Vancouver in Clark County, Washington State. Louis was recorded as aged 28 years, and a brewer by occupation. He had been born in France, as had both his parents.

The author of 'Clark County Pioneers' noted in a Genforum entry that Louis was a musician in a cavalry regiment, and then later a brewer.

The 1885 Washington Territory census recorded Arthur Quigley, his son Peter Quigley and his son in law Lewis Damphoffer, living side by side in Washington Territory. The census page does not specify any ther geographical details but the assumption is it is still Clark County. Lewis Damphoffer was recorded as a white male of 36 years of age and single. He had been born in France and worked then as a 'Laborer'. He was an American citizen.

When Louis Damphoffer died in 1900, his residence as well as his place of death was noted as Vancouver, Washington. He had been born in France, about 1849 as his recorded age at death was 51 years. His parents, M. Damphoffer and C. Remlinger, were both born in France.

Louis married Isabel QUIGLEY, daughter of Arthur QUIGLY and Jane THOMSON, on 5 June 1876 in RC Church, Vancouver, Clark County, Washington State, USA.¹ (Isabel QUIGLEY was born on 1 March 1854 in Wahkiakum, Washington Territory, USA,^{3 4} died on 20 February 1927 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington State, USA ⁴ and was buried in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington State, USA ⁴.)
