   Cause of his death was carcinoma of the rectum for 4 years and cachexia.

  General Notes:

William's father, Michael, gave notice of his birth before the registrar at Galston, James C. Hutchison, on 20 March 1880.

In the 1891 census William was recorded aged 11 years and was recorded as a scholar.

In 1899 William's brother Michael married. There was a 'William Quigley' cited as a witness in the marriage certificate, and was most likely this William Quigley.

William was recorded by the census in 1901. He lived with his mother and sister at 5 Chapel Lane Galston. He was a single man, aged 21 years and was a stone mason.

William was widowed in 1941. In his wife's death certificate he was referred to as a foreman bricklayer.

William died in 1951 at the recorded age of 71 years. He had been a bricklayer foreman and was a widower when he died. Both of his parents were deceased by then.

In 1983, when his daughter Ellen died, William was recorded in her death certificate as a bricklayer.

His daughter Elizabeth died in 1988. Her birth certificate recorded her father, William, as a stone mason. 5

S. F. Avon LRCP etc certified the cause of Michael's death.

His son, W. Quigley, who had been present where the death occurred, notified the registrar at Galston , Margaret C. Smith, on 7 April 1951 of his father's death. His address was noted then as 29 Woodstock Street, Kilmarnock.


William married Elizabeth McILROY, daughter of Henry McILROY and Elizabeth QUEEN. (Elizabeth McILROY was born in 1878, died 5 December 1941 at 2.45 am in 91 Brewland Street, Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland 6 and was buried in Galston Cemetery, Ayrshire, Scotland 3.). The cause of her death was diabetes mellitus, pyonephrosis and uraemia.
