  General Notes:

Thomas, George's father, was a coal miner according to the description in the birth certificate of 1864

George was only 10 months old when he died.

He was probably named after his maternal gandfather George Barbour.

  Research Notes:

TABES MESOTERICA

This was a disease of the glands of the bowels.

  Medical Notes:

Little George had suffered from this illness for 'a considerable time'.

Dr John K. Ramsay certified the cause of death.

Goerge's father, Thomas, notified the registrar William Bell at Galston on the day of George's death, and made his X mark.
