  General Notes:

In James McCallum's birth certificate in 1869 his father Thomas was recorded as a coal miner. It was he who notified the registrar and made his X mark on 23 June 1869 at Galston.

James aged 1 year was mentioned in the 1871 census entry for Thomas and Helen and family.

In 1881 James was recorded by the census living with his father and his surviving brothers and sisters. His mother was dead by then. The family lived at 59 Lethan Hill, Dalmellington, Ayrshire. James was aged 11.

In his death certificate of 1941 James, a single man who worked as a general labourer, was recorded as "James MacCallum formerly James MacCallum Quigley". His usual residence was 33 East North Street Aberdeen. His recorded age at death was 71 years. Both of his parents were deceased. 5 6

  Medical Notes:

The informant of James MacCallum's death was the resident physician in Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen. 5
