The 1900 US Census for Catlin village, Monticelo Precinct, Cowlitz County in Washington State recorded Arthur Quigley as head of a household consisting of himself, his wife, and his seven children. The youngest child, Lewis, was recorded as born in Washington State in October 1899 and was 7 months old. He was a baby so he was not at school, could not read and write, and did not yet speak English.
