The 1900 US Census for Catlin village, Monticelo Precinct, Cowlitz County in Washington State recorded Arthur Quigley as head of a household consisting of himself, his wife, and his seven children. The second youngest child, Orvel, was recorded as born in Washington State in February 1897 and was 3 years old. He was not at school, could not read and write, and did not yet speak English.
