The 1870 census for Multnomah County, Oregon recorded William Quickly living with his family in Portland. He was 8 years of age and had been born in Washington Territory. He had attended school within the year. Like all of his siblings he was recorded as having parents of foreign birth.

William Quickley was aged 18 years when recorded by the US Census for Oregon. He lived with his family at Willamette Slough in Multnomah County. Like his brother Arthur he was single and woked as a labourer and had been born in Washington Territory.

A.J. Quigley, aged 24 years, was recorded along with W. J. Quigley, aged 23 years, probably his brother William Joseph, and both labourers born in Washington Territory, by the 1885 Washington Stae and Territorial Census. They were residing in Union.

The 1910 US census recorded Wm J Quigley, his wife Alice, and their daughters Vivian and Florence living at W Alberta in Portland Oregon. The couple had been married 24 years: William was recorded as 48 years old and Alice as 38 years. The girls were 16 and 8 years of age. William was a merchant in confectionery. ^{2 3 5 6}

William married Alice D. HAWK on 25 September 1888 in Cowlitz County, Washington State, USA. (Alice D. HAWK was born in 1871 in Missouri, USA,⁴ died on 23 September 1941 in Tillamook County, Oregon, USA ⁴ and was buried in Bay City, Tillamook County, Oregon, USA ⁴.)
