William Sherry did not appear in the family list of the 1871 census for Low Patrick Street in Hamilton as he was not born till 5 days or so after the census was taken.

William Sherrey was recorded as aged 9 years by the 1881 census for Hamilton, where he had been born. He was a scholar.

The 1900 US Census recorded William Sherry and his wife Mary living in Brazil, Clay County, Indiana with their baby son Edward. William was a coal miner and had arrived in the USA in 1897.

In 1910 William Sherry along with his wife and three children were living at 504 North Columba Street in Brazil Ward 1, Clay, Indiana. William was a coal miner and lived in a mortgaged property. ^{2 3 5 6}
