Joseph married Mary ADAMS, daughter of David ADAMS and Margaret PILLO probably County Armagh, Ireland.¹ (Mary ADAMS was born about 1800 in probably County Armagh, Ireland and died in 1875 ².)

No marriage record has been found as yet for this couple.

However in the 1855 marriage certificate of their son James and the 1859 marriage and 1864 death certificates of their son Joseph they are referenced as the parents of these two men, so one might assume they were indeed spouses.

Moreover in the 1859 marriage certificate the bride and groom as recorded as 'cousins german', which establishes Mary Adams here as the sister of Thomas Adams. ^{1 3 4}
