Another name for James was ADAM, James.3 General Notes: The 1861 census for Crichton, Midlothian, recorded James Adams as grocer and head of a common lodging house. He was 34 years old and had been born in Ireland. He lived at Pathhead in the parish of Crichton with his wife and son, John, and a number of lodgers, principally named Camble, with one called Lawson. James married Jane ADAMS, daughter of Thomas ADAMS (DNA Linked) and Sarah McMILLAN (DNA Linked), on 10 December 1855 in Borthwick Manse, Borthwick, Midlothian, Scotland.1 (Jane ADAMS was born about 1827 in County Armagh, Ireland 2 4.) Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. Cathcart Leslie, minister of Borthwick, married the couple. The witnesses were John Adams and David Adams. |
