General Notes: In 1871 the census for Crichton, Midlothian, recorded John Adams as head of a household living at Tynebank, Turnie Dykes, with his wife and family. As well as his wife, there were six others living in the household: five were his children and the sixth was a 'relative' named Mary Adams. William Adams was the youngest of the children of John Adams recorded in the entry, excluding the 'relative', Mary. His birthplace was noted as Cranston, and he was 7 years old. |
