"James Crichton of Auchingoul succeeded his father before 30 July 1702, and had a charter to himself in liferent and to James his second son in fee, with remainder to Charles his third son, and George his fourth son, successively, on 13 February 1737. He died before 16 November 1744. He married Margaret Gordon, said to be a daughter of Alexander Gordon of Auchentoul, one of the Senators of the College of Justice. He had issue"
