"Gilbert Baird, III of Auchmedden. The historians of the family describe him as a rigid papist, who was fined because he would not attend the kirk. As already noted, he linked up two lines of the family by marrying in 1587 (see Note below) Lilias Baird, the heiress of Ordinhivas. As if the linking of the two Baird breeds brought renewed strength to the race, Gilbert and his wife are said to have had the enormous family of thirty-two children."
