Jane Quigley was living in Ecclefechan village, Dumfriesshire, when the 1851 census was taken. It recorded her as the wife of John Quigley, and born in Hoddam parish where she now lived. She was aged 26 years.

In 1881 the census recorded Jane Quigley acting, like her husband, as a 'Temperance Hotel Keeper' in Dundee. Her age was recorded as 59 years and her place of birth as Ecclefechan, Dumfriesshire. ^{3 5}

Jane married John QUIGLY, son of Andrew QUIGLY and Mary BELL, on 29 Jul 1845 in Dryfesdale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.¹ (John QUIGLY was born about 1820 in Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland ^{3 6} and died 28 November 1887 at 4.20 am in High Street, Edzell, Forfarshire, Scotland ⁴.). The cause of his death was senile decay.
