Other names for Catharine were CHRISTIE, Chatharine, CHRISTIE, Christian,6 CHRISTY, Catharine,6 CHRISTY, Catherine and QUIGLEY, Catherine.7

  General Notes:

Catherine Quigley was recorded by the 1841 census living in back Street in Fintry, Stirlingshire. Three of her children also lived there. Catherine was placed in the 60-65 age group and her birthplace was indicated by a 'No', meaning in the 1841 census code that she had been born in Scotland but not in Stirlingshire.
Note: From the ages of her children it looks as if Catharine's age was overestimated, possibly through illness.

Catharine' husband, Peter Quigley, was recorded as a widower in the 1851 census. 7 8

  Research Notes:

Another family whose surname was Christie also were recorded in Fintry, some with given names the same as Catharine's children. The father was Hugh Christie and the mother Sally leefever or some other variant of Lefevre. He may be a brother of Catharine. 6

Catharine married Peter QUIGGLEY on 9 Apr 1815 in Balfron, Stirlingshire, Scotland.1 (Peter QUIGGLEY was born about 1775 in Ireland, died 29 Mar 1858 at 2.00 pm in Old Man's Asylum, Glasgow 9 and was buried in Mar 1858 in Sighthill Cemetery, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of his death was enlarged prostate gland and disease of the bladder of 4 weeks' duration.

  Marriage Notes:

Peter and Catharine were married on 9 April 1815.

This marriage was followed by three christenings together on the 10th April. The couple were perhaps regularising an 'irregular' marriage. Or possibly the christenings were dependent on the marriage taking place first 10

Catharine next married on 22 Nov 1623 in Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.2 3 4
