James Quigley gave notice of his daughter Catherine's birth before the registrar, William T. Rae, at Hamilton on 15 December 1895. He was recorded on her birth certificate as a coal miner.

James' son John was born in 1897 and James was the informant of the birth. He gave notice before the registrar, Henry Lairdlaw, at Hamilton on 6 July 1897. James was recorded as a coal miner.

In 1901 James was recorded living at 9 Muir Street Hamilton with his wife Helen, his three children and two boarders, in a house with three windowed rooms. He was aged 31 years and worked as a coal miner. John's boarders were Thomas Cully aged 26 years, single, a coal miner, born in Ireland, and James aged 26 years, married, also a coal miner, and born in Hamilton. 1 6 7

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest officiating was Peter Donnelly. The witnesses were James Kelly and Jane Connor.

James Quigley was a coal miner aged 24 years, and a bachelor. He resided at 126 Muir Street Hamilton.. His father John was deceased.

Ellen Gillick, a spinster, was aged 23 years and a powerloom weaver. Her address was 21 Brandon Street Hamilton.

The marriage was registered at Hamilton on 30 April 1894, J. T. Rae being the signing registrar. 2

James next married Margaret QUIGLEY, daughter of James QUIGLEY and Margaret LYONS.3 (Margaret QUIGLEY was born 3 April 1878 in the am in 23 East Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland 9.)

He is mentioned in notices of his father, 1602, 1607, 1612; and was dead before June 18, 1618, when his widow was wife of John Gordon, younger of Craig (Reg. Mag. Sig.}. He married Jean, daughter of James Gordon of Lesmoir, and by her had :

(1) George, IV. of Coclarachie.

(2) James (Balb. MS., p. 52) ; or Alexander (Wimberley's Gordons of Lesmoir (1893), p. 109, from Prony MS. ; also Theodore Gordon's MS.)."

She married, secondly, John Gordon, younger of Craig, who, with Jean Gordon, his spouse, got sasine in Johnsleys, September 1, 1618, and also in Craig."
