  Marriage Notes:

"His (John Gordon's) son John Gordon second Laird of Pitlurge married the Earl of Athols daughter Stuart, with whom he begat a son John Gordon third Laird of Pittlurg; likewise he begat on a Gentlewoman Maitland two natural sons and two daughters viz. William Gordon of Belchirrie and George Gordon of Kindrught ; one daughter married the goodman of New Forbes, another married Menzies Provost of Aberdeen. Their Father the forsaid John Gordon 2d Laird of Pittlurg was killed at the battle of Pinkie anno 1547. [He married secondly Margaret Drummond. It was his son who fell at Pinkie.] "

from Balbithan MS

Note:

The marriage between Menzies, Provost of Aberdeen, and John Gordon's daughter, is still proving elusive.

"This Elspet Stewart, mother of John Innes 1. of Edingight [....] was one of seven sisters who all were married and whose descendants survive in many families, some of them of high rank. The eldest, Jean, married Sir Robert (see Note below) Gordon of Pitlurg"

from Innes of Edingight

Note:

This forename is an error, probably on account of Robert Gordon being a famous member of this family.
