  General Notes:

The 1861 census for Balfron, Stirlingshire recorded Michal Quglie as head of the household living at 6 Dunmore Street. He was 67 years old, married, and had been born in Ireland. He worked as a stonebreaker for roads.

Michael was a stone breaker, according to the death certificate of his son Patrick in 1862.

Michael was recorded as aged 86 years when he died in 1868, and was a married man. He was a labourer. No parents' names were noted.

When his daughter Sarah McAfferty died in 1922, Michael Quigley was recorded in her death certificate as her father. His occupation was noted as 'road surveyor'. He was deceased by then. ^{2 3 4 6}

Mary Quigley, Michael's wife, who had been present where his death occurred, gave notice of his death to the registrar at Balfron, John Fairlie, on 12 February 1868.

Michael married Mary McCALLION. (Mary McCALLION was born about 1798 ⁴ and died before 18 Mar 1922 ^{2 4 6 7}.)

Michael next married Margaret McGONEGAL, daughter of William McGUNNIGAL and Mary Ann McNAMEE.¹ (Margaret McGONEGAL was born about 1870 in Dalziel, Lanarkshire, Scotland.)
