James Twigley was aged 2 years in 1881, according to the census, and lived in Cambusnethan where he had been born.

In the 1891 census for Cambusnethan, James was recorded living with his family at 1 & 2 Burnhall Row. He was aged 12 years and designated a 'scholar'.

The 1901 Census recorded James and Maggie Tweedley living at 4 Prentice's Row in the parish of Cambusnethan Lanarkshire. Both were 22 years of age. James had been born in Waterloo and Maggie in Overtown. James worked as a coal miner.

A 25 year old man, whose occupation was recorded as "mason", named James Tweedley left Glasgow Scotland for Halifax Canada, eventually destined for Winnipeg Manitoba, on 11 April 1903 aboard the Pomeranian. It may have been this man. ^{3 4 5}

James married Margaret CLARK on 28 Dec 1900 in The Public School, Waterloo, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Margaret CLARK was born about 1878 in Overtown, Lanarkshire, Scotland ³.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage of James and Margaret was conducted by P. L. Thomson, the minister at Overtown, near Wishaw, according to the forms of the established Church of Scotland. The witnesses were John K. Tweedlie and Sarah Clark.

The groom, James, was an unmarried man of 22 years, a coal miner living at 1 Burnhall Row, Waterloo. His father, John Tweedlie, was also a coal miner.

Margaret, the bride, was unmarried too. She was aged 22 years, and worked as a domestic servant. Her address was McQueen's Land Overtown. Her father James, a greengrocer, was deceased.

James next married Mary Ann QUIGLEY, daughter of James QUIGLEY and Margaret GILROY, on 7 Jul 1635 in Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.^{1 2} (Mary Ann QUIGLEY was born on 30 Mar 1870 in Milton, Glasgow, Scotland ⁶.)
