  General Notes:

The 1841 census for Lockerbie Village in Dumfriesshire recorded Andrew and Mary Quigly with their six children (probably) living in Bridge Street, Lockerbie. Head of the household, Andrew was a 'Road man Agricultural Labourer' with 'OCC AG LAB' crossed out. He was in the age range 40-44 years and had been born in Ireland.

In 1851 the census for Dumfriesshire recorded Andrew and his family living in Bridge Street, Lockerbie in the parish of Dryfesdale. Andrew was head of his household, married, and aged 54. He worked as an agricultural labourer. His birthplace was County Donegal, Ireland.

In the death certificate of his son John in 1887 Andrew was recorded as having been a 'contractor'. He was deceased by then. 4 6

  Research Notes:

DEATH

It seems probable that Andrew died before 1855, that is between the census of 1851 and the statutory death registration that began in 1855, since a search for him after 1855 reveals no deaths in his name. The 1861 census does not list him.
