   Other names for Patrick were RORK, John,2 3 RORKE, Patrick 4 and ROURKE, Patrick.5

  General Notes:

Patrick was a coal miner, according to his son, John's marriage certificate in 1864. He may have moved from Ireland, possibly County Fermanagh, to Lanarkshire, Scotland around 1851. His last son was born about 1851 in Ireland.

In 1866 his son, Philip's marriage certificate recorded him as deceased. His occupation was recorded as labourer.

'John Rork' was a labourer, and deceased, in 1870, according to his son, James' marriage certificate.

When his son, John remarried in 1872, Patrick was recorded in his marriage certificate as an agricultural labourer.

He was recorded as a 'farmer' on his son, John's death certificate in 1908.

In his son, James' death certificate of 1908, Patrick O'Rourke was recorded as a 'shipyard labourer deceased'.

His son, Daniel, died in Coatbridge in 1910. Patrick was recorded in Daniel's death certificate as deceased, and his occupation was noted as 'small farmer'. This occupation was attributed to him too in the death certificate of his son, Philip, in 1918. 2 4 6

According to a family account, Patrick O'Rourke and Mary Burns had six sons and two daughters.

Patrick married Mary BURNS, daughter of John BURNS and Mary BURNS. (Mary BURNS was born about 1819 in County Fermanagh, Ireland and died 25 August 1866 at 8.00 am in Fells Land, Dundyvan, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was diarrhoea over 4 days.
