The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and form of the Roman Catholic Church. T.B.B. Parkinson Roman Catholic Clergyman was the celebrant. The witnesses were John G. MacLeod and Bridget Maginnis, who made her X mark.

James McCann, who made his X mark, was an unmarried man aged 26 years and worked as a collier. His address was noted as 20 Lyon Street Glasgow. His father was deceased.

Jane Quigley, who also made her X mark, was aged 23 years and unmarried. Her address was the same as that of her partner. No occupation was noted for her. She had one parent living, her mother.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 18 January 1870, Alexander Dewar, registrar.
