  General Notes:

In 1901 Joseph was recorded by the census as an ironwork labourer. He, his wife and their six children were living at 13 Branchal Road, Wishaw, Lanarkshire.

Joseph was a miner residing in Thomson's Square, Low Main Street, Wishaw, according to a newspaper article about his wife in 1895.

In 1903 Joseph's son, John, married. In the marriage certificate Joseph was recorded as an orchard labourer.

When Joseph McGonigle died in 1941 he was recorded as a general labourer and widower of Jane Cochlan. His recorded age at death was 40 years. Both of his parents were deceased. ^{1 3}

Robert Graham, son in law of the deceased, gave notice of his death at Wishaw on 2 September 1941. ²

Joseph married Jane COCHLAN on 12 August 1883 in Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Jane COCHLAN was born about 1869 in Ireland and died before 1 September 1941 ².)
