General Notes:
In 1871 the census for Hamilton recorded Bernard Lynch, aged 43 years, living with his three children, Eliza, John and Rosa, at 1 Blackwell Lane. Rosa was 10 years old and recorded as having been born in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.
Rose Ann Lynch was recorded by the 1881 census living with her parents 'off the Hamilton Road' in Blantyre, Lanarkshire. She was 19 years of age and had been born in Cambusnethan.
A Bernard Lynch, recorded as aged 74 years, and Fanny Lynch aged 66 years, were included in the 1891 census for Hamilton living at 40 Argyle Buildings. Bernard was a miner, and had been born in Ireland. They had a daughter Rose Ann, recorded as 27 years old and born in Wishaw Lanarkshire, as was her mother. Rose Ann was a servant by employment. As well as these three there were three youngsters, Maggie aged 10 years, Mary aged 5 years and James aged 2 years. These were listed as son and daughters of the head of the family, Bernard. This may have resulted from confusion, depending on who was the family member giving the information, for they are likely to have been grandchildren brought up by the older couple, the children of their daughter Rose Ann. There were also two boarders living in the household whose surname was Rea.
Rose Ann's daughter Mary married in 1928. In her marriage certificate Rose Ann was recorded as a mill worker.
When Rose Ann died in 1935 her death certificate recorded her as a single woman of 73 years of age. The informant of her death was her son James Lynch of 91 Station Road Blantyre.
Rose Ann was the only one of Elizabeth's parents to be noted on her marriage lines of 1937. She was deceased then. Her occupation was noted as laundry worker. 1 2 3 4 5 6
