Mary was recorded by the 1851 census as 3 years old. She was living in Laurieston in Govan parish with her family.

Mary's details were included in Jean Porter's application for parish relief in 1861. Mary was aged 13 years and had been born in Rutherglen Loan. She worked in McK(?) part time for 1/6d a week. 2 3


Mary married Thomas GREENSHIELDS on 7 September 1866 in 15 Binnie Place, Glasgow, Scotland. (Thomas GREENSHIELDS was born about 1847.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was performed after banns according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland. The minister was Gilbert Stewart. The witnesses were Edward Tweedly (Tweedlie written first then crossed out) and Helen Tweedly (ditto).

Thomas Greenshields was a cloth lapper by occupation, of 26 Risk Street Glasgow. He was unmarried and aged 19 years. Both of his parents were living.

Mary Tweedly was a power loom weaver of the same address. She was 19 years old and unmarried. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 11 September 1866 at Glasgow, William Blackwood being the signing registrar.
