   Other names for James were TWEEDLEY, John and TWEEDLY, John.4

  General Notes:

John Tweedly was recorded by the 1881 census living with his second wife and children and a female boarder at 13 Bishop Street in Barony parish Glasgow. He was a shoemaker by trade and had been born in Ireland in County Monaghan. His age was recorded as 46 years.

His 1886 death certificate specifically records that he was 'known as James Tweedley'. He was 'aged 50 years', a 'shoemaker' and was married twice. 4

  Medical Notes:

The cause of James's death was certified by Dr A. Sloan.

His wife Margaret, who had been present where the death occurred, notified the registrar Alexander Dewar of her husband's death at Glasgow on 3 September 1886 and made her X mark.


James married Elizabeth MARTIN on 20 August 1855 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Great Clyde Street, Glasgow, Scotland. (Elizabeth MARTIN was born in September 1832 in Glasgow, Scotland and died before 20 December 1865.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated, after banns, according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church, James Russell RCC St Andrew's presiding. The witnesses were D. Mitchell and John Monney.

James Quigley, of 297 Argyle Street, Glasgow, was aged 24 years and a bachelor. He was a shoemaker by trade. He had been born and registered in 1831 in County Monaghan, Ireland. Both of his parents were living.

Elizabeth Martin, who made her X mark, was of the same address. She was aged 22 years and unmarried. She was born and registered at Glasgow in September 1832. Both of her parents were living.

The marriage was registered on 23 August 1855 at Glasgow, John Steven being the registrar.

James next married Margaret GILROY on 20 December 1865 in Anderston, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Margaret GILROY was born about 1847 in Springburn, Lanarkshire, Scotland 4 and died after 3 September 1886.)
