Martin senior made his X mark when he notified the registrar of his son's birth on 20 October 1866.

Martin Quigley was aged 14 years when recorded by the 1881 census for Abbey parish Paisley. Like his older brother he worked as a dyer. He had been born in Paisley.

In December 1908 Martin was the informant of the death of his father in Paisley. Martin's address then was reccorded as 4 Johnston Street. ^{2 3}
