The 1851 census for Barony parish Glasgow recorded Willm and Crighton Russell living there as husband and wife. William was 28 years old, a journeyman bootmaker, born in Glasgow, and his wife Crighton was recorded as 25 years old and born in Grangemouth Linlithgowshire.

The 1861 census for Barony parish Glasgow recorded Chrichton Russell and her daughter Margaret living at 25 Oak Street Anderston. Both were boarders with mary Gray and Julia Gray. Chrichto was recorded as 39 years old and born in Grangemouth. She was a darner in an upholstery warehouse. Margaret was 5 years old. ^{2 4 5}

Crichton Stuart Milne is wrongly recorded in the "Scotland Births and Baptisms" database on Ancestry as male. Scotland's People records no gender in the index, and no gender is mentioned in the original OPR baptism record. The confusion or omission of gender is presumably linked to the personal name she was given "Crichton". ^{1 6 7}

Crichton married William RUSSELL. (William RUSSELL was born about 1823 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁵ and died after 11 January 1856 ³.)
