Another name for Margaret was DONALDSON, Margaret Ann Carson.1 General Notes: The informant of Margaret's birth was William Donaldson, her father, a coal miner, before the registrar at Irvine, Ayrshire, on 30 June 1874. An entry in the Register of Corrected Entries changes the child's name from 'Margaret Ann Carson Donaldson' found in the original birth certificate to 'Margaret Douds Donaldson'. This was done shortly after the birth was registered, at the behest of the Catholic Clergyman Thomas Keane in July 1874 and authorised officially in October by the Registrar. |
