   Cause of his death was carcinoma of the bowel.²

   Other names for Samuel were KAIN, Samuel,³ KANE, Sam ⁴ and KANE, Samuel Bothwell.²

  General Notes:

Samuel's aunt, Margaret Stewart, who had been present where his birth occurred, was the informant of his birth before the registrar at Greenock on 12 November 1880.

Samuel Kane was a witness at the wedding of Margaret Kane and William Rattray in 1906.

Sam Kane, Jane Fulton's son, of 13 Bruce Street, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar at Greenock on 25 June 1925.

When Samuel Bothwell Kane died in 1950 his recorded age was 70 years. He had been a wood turner and was the widower of Lily Harvey. His usual residence was 13 Bruce Street Greenock. His parents were both dead. ^{1 2 4 5}

S. Livingstone, Samuel's daughter, of 96 Holmscroft Street Greenock, was the informant of her father's death at Greenock on 26 December 1950. ²
