Mary Ann Donaldson, mother of the child, was the informant of the birth of her daughter, also Mary Ann, before the registrar at Irvine on 22 August 1870. She made her X mark.

In her death certificate of 1927 Mary Ann Smith was recorded as married to Robert Smith Labourer and was 56 years old. Her parents were deceased.

Mary Ann Donaldson was recorded as deceased in 1942 when her son Cornelius married. 2 3

Robert Smith, the widower, who was present where his wife's death occurred, gave notice before the registrar at Baillieston on 1 August 1927, on the day that would have been his wife's 57th birthday.

The cause of his death was arterio sclerosis, hypostatic pneumonia and chronic myocarditis.

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Peter H. Terken. The witnesses were John Stirling and Hannah Donaldson.

The bridegroom was an unmarried man of 24 years of age who was a coal miner. He lived at Gilmours Land Baillieston.

The bride was unmarried and aged 24 years. She was a domestic servant who lived at 151 Garngadhill Glasgow. Both of her parents were deceased.
