Matilda Miller's father Samuel was noted as a shoemaker in her baptism record of 1868. No sponsors' names were recorded.

In 1911 the census recorded Matilda and John Green and their children living in 12 Murray Street Maryhill, Glasgow. They were both 42 years old and born in Ireland. They had been married for 21 years and Matilda had had nine children, of whom eight were still living.

Matilda Green died in 1936. Her death certificate recorded her as "School Cleaner (Retired) Widow of John Green Tailor". Her age at death was 67 years. Her parents were deceased. 3 4 11

  Medical Notes:

Winifred Green, daughter of the deceased woman who had been present where her mother died, gave notice of her death before the registrar at Glasgow on 9 January 1936. 4


Matilda married John GREEN, son of George GREEN in Dungannon and Eliza Jane MILLAR in Gortmerron, on 14 March 1890 in 34 Abbotsford Place, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (John GREEN was born on 23 December 1868 in County Tyrone, Ireland 6 12 and died between 24 December 1915 and 29 November 1927 8 9 13.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. Andrew Leiper, Minister of Gorbals parish, married the couple. The witnesses were Alexander Miller and Jemima McLellan.

John Green was a tailor journeyman, aged 21 years and resident at 80 South Wellington Street Glasgow. He was a single man. Both of his parents were deceased.

Matilda Miller was also 21 years old and resident at the same address. She was a single woman who was a cotton mill worker. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 14 March 1890 at Glasgow. 1
