In 1877 Catherine Niven made a parish relief application on behalf of her 4 year old granddaughter, Sarah, who along with her brother John was residing with their grandparents at 43 Dale Street on account of the separation of their parents. Their mother was in Newcastle on Tyne and their father's address was unknown. Catherine was applying for medical relief only. ³

Catherine married James NEVIN. (James NEVIN was born about 1810 in County Derry, Ireland ² and died between 1881 and 1887 ⁴.)
