   Cause of her death was general debility over months.8

   Other names for Sarah were KYLE, Sarah,8 MACGUNAGALL, Sarah,7 McGONEGAL, Sarah,4 McGONIGLE, Sarah,5 McGONNIGAL, Sarah,6 McGONNIGLE, Sarah 2 and McGUNIGAL MS UNKNOWN, Sarah.3

  General Notes:

Sarah was recorded by the 1841 census living at 2 Main Street with her husband and two children. She was in the 25-29 years age group and had been born in Ireland

The 1851 census recorded Sarah McGonegal living with her two sons, her husband, and a lodger, at 156 Main Street in Gorbals parish Glasgow. Sarah's age was recorded as 34 years and her birthplace as Ireland.

In 1861 the census found Sarah's family in the City Poorhouse in Parliamentary Street. Sarah's age was recorded as 57 years and her birthplace as Ireland. For the first time she is ascribed an occupation: millworker.
Note: Sarah's ages are as odd in their progression as her husband's.

When Sarah McGunagall MS Kyle (sic) died in 1865, she was recorded as "Pauper, Widow of Hugh McGunagall". Her recorded age at death was 70 years. Despite her advanced age, her parents were not recorded in her death certificate as deceased.
Note: this latter age noted for Sarah seems high when placed next to other earlier, probably more reliable, information. 3 4 5

  Medical Notes:

E. Hunter, surgeon, certified the cause of death.

Thomas Fulton, of 111 East High Street, Forfar, who was "Father in law to a son of the deceased", gave notice of her death before the registrar at Forfar on 21 October 1865. 8


Sarah married Hugh McGUNIGAL on 21 January 1837 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Hugh McGUNIGAL was born about 1812 in County Derry, possibly Derry City, Ireland 2 3 4 5 and died 22 March 1863 at 10 00 am in City Poorhouse, Glasgow, Scotland 3 4 5 9.). The cause of his death was phthisis pulmonalis over 2 years.8

Note: Lifford is a parish in County Donegal which is part of the Romn Catholic Diocese of Derry, and it is possibly this that Father Peter Forbes, a Roman Catholic priest from the north east of Scotland, was alluding to.

Also Ann McCoul may be Ann McCall.
