David married Mary Eleonara GRANT, daughter of Colonel Alexander GRANT of Achoynanie and Arndilly and Eleonara Frances MURRAY, in 1790.¹ (Mary Eleonara GRANT was born on 28 October 1771 ¹, baptised on 30 October 1771 in Boharm parish, Banffshire, Scotland ² and died before 11 August 1832 ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Mary-Eleanora Grant. Who was born 28th October 1771. On 24th May 1790, she was retoured heir of taillie and provision to her father. She married, in 1790, David M'Dowall, seventh son of William M'Dowall of Garthland and Castle Semple, Renfrewshire, and had issue. Her husband assumed the additional surname of Grant after M'Dowall. She died before 11th August 1832, and was succeeded by her eldest son, William."
