The date of the marriage contract does not appear to be consistent with John Grant being a son of James. He may, more probably, have been a brother. ¹

Marie next married Robert GORDON, son of Captain James GORDON 'Apparent of Knockespock', and 3rd of Arradoul and Jean BISSET.² (Robert GORDON was born about 1630 and died about 1663 ².)

"Robert Gordon is said to have married 'a daughter of Coclarachie's brother' ('Elphinstone Dalrymple MS.'). I cannot verify this."
