"Lachlan Grant of Ruthrie, born about 1606, third son of Lachlan G. of Wester Elchies; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1625); ord. to Moy and Dalarossie before 30th Oct. 1627; pres. by James, Lord Gordon, trans, and adm. after 3rd April 1649; died 6th April 1670. He marr. (1) Elizabeth, daugh. of John M'Intosh in Dundelchack, and had issue Anne (marr. Donald Macpherson, seventh laird of Strathmassie); and others : (2) Mary Robertson (mother by a previous marriage of Lachlan Mackintosh of Balnespick), and had issue James. Banff Sets., iii., 275; G.
