  Marriage Notes:

"Its is also probable that Elizabeth Dishington, who in 1491 was relict of John de Weems, was a daughter of Thomas of Ardross."

from East Neuk of Fife

"John Wemyss, the second son of Sir Thomas Wemyss of Reres, married Elizabeth Dishington, and in 1466 received from his father the lands of Pittencrieff and others, in the county of Fife. He became the ancestor of the family of Wemyss of Pittencrieff. John Wemyss was one of those on whom the estate of Reres was entailed, and he appears after his father's death to have made some claim to the lands, but only the lands of Pittencrieff and others descended to his son Thomas, who had also an interest in the lands of Pirchock, in Aberdeenshire, which had belonged to his great-grandfather, Duncan Wemyss."

from Family of Wemyss

"John Wemyss of Rires and Pittencrieff, to whom his father, Sir Thomas Wemyss of Rires, assigned the lands of Pittencrieff, Gallowrig, Clune, Leuchars-Wemyss, Logiemurdo, Wester-Cruvy, Rires, which were confirmed to him under the Great Seal on 22 July 1466. As heir-male he unsuccessfully disputed the right of succession of his niece, Elizabeth, daughter of his elder brother Michael. He m. Elizabeth, apparently daughter of John Dischington of Ardross, to whom his father resigned the Pittencrieff etc. to them jointly and confirmed under the Great Seal on 22 July 1466."
