User ID: G399. General Notes: "Francis (Crichton), who, with his brothers William and George, is mentioned in the charter of Frendraught in 1641 after mentioned. He entered the College of Douay 31 August 1657, but left it and became a soldier. He was accused along with his brother James, who was acquitted, of the murder of Alexander, son of the Rev. John Gregory, minister of Drumoak, on 7 March 1663. He escaped from prison before trial. There were further proceedings against him for the crime in 1667, but he obtained a remission in 1682." |
