Elizabeth married Sir John LESLIE of Newton, Lord of Session, son of Andrew LESLIE 5th Earl of Rothes, Sheriff of Fife and Janet DURIE, 8 and 15 September 1603 (contract).^{1 2} (Sir John LESLIE of Newton, Lord of Session was born about 1575 and died on 1 September 1651 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland ².). The cause of his death was killed at storming of Dundee, with his son John.

"II. Sir John Leslie of Newton, ancestor of the fifth and subsequent Lords Lindores. He succeeded his brother George in the barony of Newton, and got a charter from King James VI. confirming a charter granted by the deceased Andrew, Earl of Rothes, of the lands and barony of Newton, in favour of George Leslie, his son, and his heirs ; whom failing, to John Leslie, now of Newton, also his son 31st March 1620."

"Sir John Leslie, the fifth son of Andrew, fifth Earl of Rothes, succeeded in 1614 to the estate of Newton on the death of his brother George. He had charters of the lands and barony of Newton and others 16 June 1596, of the teind sheaves of Newton 18 January 1634 ; and of the lands of Lochraylne in the barony of Abernethy, Fife, 7 August 1643. He was one of the Lords of the Articles in the Parliament of 1663, was appointed an Ordinary Lord of Session 13 November 1641, and two days afterwards was knighted by Charles I. at Holyrood. He was one of the Commissioners of Exchequer in February 1645, but, being involved in the 'Engagement,' he was deprived of his offices by the Act of Classes on 12 March 1649. He was killed at the storming of Dundee by Monck 1 September 1651. He married (contract 8 and 15 September 1603), Elizabeth, fourth daughter of Patrick, sixth Lord Gray, and by her had issue"
